ROBOLAB for Labview is a graphical, icon-based programming environment built on National Instruments’ LabVIEW and designed for teaching robotics and engineering concepts with LEGO MINDSTORMS. It lets learners create programs by connecting visual blocks that represent sensors, motors, loops, and logic, then download those programs to the LEGO RCX programmable brick via an infrared interface. The environment emphasizes hands-on exploration with progressive complexity, making it suitable for beginners while offering a path toward more advanced LabVIEW concepts.

Key features:

  • Drag-and-drop programming rooted in LabVIEW’s dataflow paradigm
  • Palettes for common LEGO sensors and actuators
  • Program download and on-brick execution for the RCX
  • Classroom-friendly activities and scaffolding for different skill levels
  • A bridge to full LabVIEW for advanced experimentation and customization

Typical use cases:

  • K–12 STEM classrooms and robotics clubs
  • Introductory engineering and programming courses
  • Legacy support for RCX-based curricula and projects

Note: ROBOLAB is legacy software and may require older operating systems and specific hardware (such as serial/USB infrared towers) to function properly.

ROBOLAB for Labview is developed by National Instruments Corporation. The most popular versions of this product among our users are: 6.0, 7.0 and 10.0. The names of program executable files are LabVIEW.exe, ROBOLAB2.exe and Robolab29.exe.

You can check NI LabVIEW Run-Time Engine, ROBOLAB, NI LabVIEW and other related programs like OpenCV Wrapper for LabVIEW at the "download" section.
